A growing consensus of today’s leading health and nutrition organizations is in agreement – we need to eat more whole, unprocessed plants!
The American Heart Association says less meat and more plants decrease our risk for heart disease, stroke, obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, Type 2 diabetes, and many cancers – and adding more healthy plant-based foods can help reduce risk even as an adult.
“Whether you’re considering eating less meat or giving it up entirely, the benefits are clear: less risk of disease and improved health and well-being.” – American Heart Association
It’s always a good time to eat more plants! Read the whole article on the American Heart Association’s website and their recently released 2021 evidence-based dietary guidelines here.

Supporting Our Work - We’re currently an all-volunteer organization and we see incredible room and need to grow over the coming year. We understand that this time has enormous challenges for everyone, so while we’ll be seeking support to help roll our vision forward, we’re also thinking creatively to keep our costs low to efficiently build resources and deliver programming at low to no cost to our community. If you’d like to support our work, we hope you’ll consider making a donation to one of our giving programs through our community partner, the Santa Barbara Foundation!
