A heartfelt thank you to our community who came together for our 2nd Annual Plantsgiving Dinner and Fundraiser on January 21, 2024!
Hosted by Chrissy and JD Roth at the beautiful Nutrition Resource Center at the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County, 60 guests came together for a program featuring our first Roots to Reach Honoree Yvette Birch Giller and the Mosher Foundation, Rooted educator Jenifer Swartzentruber and our partner Beatriz Angeles, the music of the Melody Joy Bakers, a beautiful farm fresh feast by @chefruhl, and a dynamic live auction led by JD Roth featuring incredible items from Chef Manny Juan and Olivers Montecito, Rosewood Mirarmar Beach and Carusos, and Chef Sally!
Thank you to all who joined us, for your warmth, spirit of community, and incredible generosity! We’ve kicked off the year on a profoundly meaningful note and we’re deeply grateful.
Since 2020, Rooted has been mobilizing an impressive network of nutrition education programming, resources and partnerships to equip our community to address chronic disease with “food as medicine.” At the event, we officially kicked off the Take Root Campaign to raise $500,000 to establish a foundational staff team to grow plant-forward nutrition and preventive health as lead priorities in our community and healthcare system.
You can help! Learn more about how you can join us and invest in our community’s health by visiting our Invest in Community Health Page.

Supporting Our Work - We’re currently an all-volunteer organization and we see incredible room and need to grow over the coming year. We understand that this time has enormous challenges for everyone, so while we’ll be seeking support to help roll our vision forward, we’re also thinking creatively to keep our costs low to efficiently build resources and deliver programming at low to no cost to our community. If you’d like to support our work, we hope you’ll consider making a donation to one of our giving programs through our community partner, the Santa Barbara Foundation!
