We will also examine the impact of the Standard American Diet (SAD), including eating patterns high in added sugar, ultra-processed foods, and low in fiber. These common dietary habits can reduce microbial diversity and negatively affect many body systems.
Finally, the session will highlight practical, evidence-informed strategies to support a healthier gut microbiome. Participants will leave with actionable tools—including nutrition approaches, lifestyle habits, and clinical counseling strategies—that can help patients improve gut and whole-person health.
Core Learning Pillars
- Understanding Imbalance: How disruptions in the gut microbiome can influence health and disease.
- Dietary Impact: How common eating patterns may contribute to poor gut health and chronic illness.
- Restoration & Support: Practical strategies to help restore and maintain a healthy gut microbiome.
This session aims to equip providers with clarity, nuance, and clinically relevant talking points to support informed nutrition counseling and shared decision-making with patients.
Attendees can access this session in either English or Spanish, thanks to simultaneous interpretation by Bridging Voices-Uniendo Voces.
