Invest in Community Health
A Collaborative Hub – Where Food and Health Meet
Rooted Santa Barbara County is a community-powered initiative removing barriers to good health through Eat to Thrive education and lifestyle-based prevention.
We focus on plant-forward, fiber-rich nutrition and practical support that helps our neighbors eat well, feel better, and live longer, healthier lives—especially in communities where access to healthy food, education, or care has been out of reach.
As a collaborative hub and trusted partner, we work with healthcare providers, community health workers, and local organizations to deliver training and programs that are inclusive, culturally relevant, and grounded in science.
We promote prevention, support care teams in prioritizing nutrition in treatment, and provide real-world tools that make healthy changes doable and sustainable—from building skills in the kitchen to navigating food choices that align with access, culture, budget, and lifestyle. We meet community members where they live, work, gather, and receive support—bringing resources and education directly into the spaces that matter most.
Rooted Tackles Health Barriers Through:
- Low- to no-cost, bilingual, plant-forward nutrition and food skills education, designed with and for the communities we serve
- Training for healthcare teams and direct service providers to integrate Food as Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine into everyday care
- Collaborations across sectors to expand access to healthy food, culturally relevant support, and a sense of belonging in health systems
- A commitment to health equity, prevention, and resilience—ensuring everyone, regardless of background or income, has the tools to take charge of their health
